They were in two different knob styles and tube variations. I picked up two HP-200CD, one at a hamfest and one at an auction. It uses a balanced version of the famous light-bulb-stabilized wien bridge oscillator developed by - you guessed it - William Hewlett who commercialized it with David Packard. That puts its upper ranges right into the broadcast band. The Hewlett-Packard HP-200CD audio generator will generate sine waves from 5 Hz to a bit over 600 KHz. Now they can be obtained for just a few dollars. When these pieces were new, they cost too much to experiment with.
